Winter Break starts at noon on Thursday, December 21.
We don’t return until Monday, January 8.
I know Winter Break is not quite as big a deal for Independent Students as it was when you were in school every day, but it’s still a nice break FOR ME!!!!
BUT REMEMBER: The Semester ends just ten days later on Jan. 18.
That means whatever classes you’re currently working on must be completed by Thursday, Jan 18 no matter what day your appointment is on.
IF YOU NEED TO WORK DURING BREAK TO COMPLETE YOUR CLASSES, then that’s what you’ve got to do. Be sure to get your assignments before Dec. 21. A few days of work during that time could mean finishing that last 10 or even 20 credits you need for First Semester.

Okay! Here they are, everybody! We just got the results of the EXIT EXAMS!
I am posting only the people who PASSSED, and which section they passed.
If you are a senior and still have not passed one or both tests, take them again Dec 2 and 9!
Elizabeth L – passed MATH (and has now passed BOTH!)
Macala M – passed MATH (and I think already passed English!)
Nichole M — passed ENGLISH (first try!)
Angel P — passed MATH (also first try!)
and
Heather M – passed MATH AND ENGLISH, both on her first try!

If you want a “Senior Quote” with your yearbook picture, or if you want your adorable baby picture included in the yearbook (for free)
pick up a form at Lighthouse. The form must be turned in by December 15.
For all of you who can’t wait for the glamour of The SLHS Winter Ball, here’s an update:

After that, the price goes up to $25. If you wait until the last week (Dec 4 - 6 ) it will be $30. You must purchase tickets by Dec. 6!
NOTE: these prices are per person, not couple.
Tickets are available at SLHS Bank (closed tomorrow, Nov. 22).
The Ball is at Marina Community Center, 15301 Wicks Blvd., 7:00 -10:00, Friday, December 8.

The Tests will be given at LINCOLN
Here’s who needs to take the tests:
Granada: both
Lockerbie: Math update: Passed MATH

There’s a rumor that the October scores will be out this week. IF it happens (and I doubt it) I will post them immediately.
NEW TEST DATES!
DECEMBER 2 and 9 (Saturdays!)
This test is for only two groups:
1) Juniors who did NOT take it in October
2) ALL SENIORS who have not passed
WE HAVE NOW RECEIVED THE OCTOBER TEST SCORES
(sort of…)
We don’t have exact scores yet, but we have been told WHO PASSED:
If your name is NOT here, that means you did NOT pass:
Elizabeth L. passed Math
Macala M. passed Math
Nichole M. passed English
Heather M. passed BOTH English and Math
Angel P. passed Math

In the comments section of this message, discuss what happened in the Nov. 7 Election.
Post facts and news that you have heard or read.
Don’t just repeat what others have already said, but add new details they may have overlooked.
Check back and add more.
Why is this election outcome important?
How will the results change the way our government does its work?
Veterans Day
This photo shows the inside of a plane bringing 17 dead soldiers back home from Iraq.
It would take 167 such flights to bring back all the 2,837 Americans who have been killed in Iraq.
Both edublogs and learnerblogs were unavailable — off and on — for several days recently. Their master-site, WordPress, was upscaling and they had our blogs off-line much of the time. You may notice several new and mysterious features in the toolbar above your “write” screen. (I don’t know what half of them mean…)
So I’m a bit behind on the blog. This has given you time to catch up, if you were behind. I hope to see the results on your blogs…
I woke up with a full-scale shock-and-awe migraine,
so I’m not coming in today. Tuesday people can stop in any time tomorrow to turn in work and/or get new assignments.
Encourage your parents/older friends and relatives to VOTE today!
